This is one of the more unique wholesale companies I’ve come across; it appears to be a small, family-run business located in Canada. Basically, book boxes are items that look like real books and are manufactured from real books — but they’re not real books. They’re actually clever little storage boxes used to stow away items (jewelry, toys, pens, etc.).

The website provides sparse information in terms of price and payment. The explanation for this, quoted directly from the site, is: “The information on this web site is intended for wholesale customers who are bona fide re-sellers of gift items.” However, if retailers want to request a price list, they can e-mail the site owner, but they must include certain information (listed on the website) about their company and themselves, in order to verify that they are “bona fide” wholesale merchants.

Anyway, about the actual products. Book Box Company has a variety of different box types, under the categories of “Premium,” “Antique,” “Regular,” and “Custom Made.” Premium products can be ordered by book title. Antique boxes are manufactured from aged and vintage-looking books. Regular books are modern hard covers that look just like any of the books you might find at your local bookstore. Finally, Custom Made books are manufactured according to the requests of the customer; almost any book title can be requested, except for those barred by copyright law. Although the provider offers little information on payment and pricing, Book Box Company may be a wholesale source worth looking into. This is a fairly average company; the most charming aspects of this provider are that it stocks certain brand name items and that the unit pricing on some wholesale lots can dip as low as $1.25. However, the correlation between price and quality is pretty solid — that is, the lower the price, the lower the quality.

Again, this company stocks mainly shoes, but it also offers unrelated accessories like belts and handbags. Most of the shoes are generic — some cute, some dull, some gaudy — but there are also a few brands like Adidas and Reebok. As expected, the prices on the brand name items are higher. Though, from what I’ve observed, it seems that the brand names aren’t priced low enough to merit profit from buying wholesale, so retailers should probably avoid them anyway.

The highlight of the company is the low pricing on certain wholesale lots. But, be warned, the lowest-priced lots are often the ones that have either been there the longest (without selling) or contain the greatest amount of items per order (that you’ll have to resell to recover a profit).
